GIG1005 Social Engagement : Lesson Learnt
Assalamualaikum and hi peeps!
Time flies so fast. I am already in my last post for my
Social Engagement journal. I enjoy my time writing here since I used to have
quite a passion for blogging a long time ago but since my university schedules
were so hectic, I have to stop blogging for years. As for me, this
journal-writing task in blog actually really bringing back old memories.
I am so close to end this project.
Rewind back to my first post regarding my preparation for
the project. How we proposed the plan and the fact that we already in a two-way-agreement
to build IT Workshop for the school students in SK Bangsar. Unfortunately, the
plan was cancelled and we have to start all over again to come out with other
project plan. At last, we decided to make poster about the COVID-19 outbreak to
spread awareness in social media. My latest post was about the execution of the
project. For the newcomers, u can refer to my older posts or check out my blog
archive to go back to those entries.
Now, for the last stage, I will talk about lesson that I learnt for this project.
1.
Not everything will go on your way
My project team has prepared everything for the IT Workshop but it was
cancelled at the last minute, like a month before the due. I am quite disappointed
but what can I do about it? No one expected this coming.
2.
Always be ready for any consequences
That’s why, we should be prepared for any consequences or simply said,
always get ready with Plan B! It is important to stay alert and if anything
happens in the middle of your work, don’t stop and complaining or regretting
over what happened, but we have to quickly think about how to deal with the
problems.
3.
Be
positive!
Everything happens for a reason. For instance, think about how the crimes
suddenly decreased in 2020. I used to complain a lot about this sudden outbreak
but, if I look from the other side, I actually gained something from this. I
can spend more time with my family and I also can have my own space and pace to
do assignments at home.
Although our initial plan was cancelled, but the fact that actually, we
still can contribute to our society even using our infographic posters and the
power of social media.
4.
Gain a lot of knowledges
Since the task given required to do some searching about COVID-19, I admit
that I know quite a lot of things from the research. For instance, I know about
how other countries dealing with the virus using AI technologies.
5.
Can spread awareness using many ways
Not
necessary to meet, we can also spread awareness using only virtual platform. I
can say that for now, social media, specifically, Instagram, Twitter and
Facebook, hold crucial parts in influencing people nowadays. Benefitting the
apps can give positive impacts toward our society and for ourselves too.
I have a lot more to say but I guess I should stop here before it gets lengthy.
Last word from me, I am very happy and grateful to be apart of this project. I
think Social Engagement is one of crucial course for students to build up their
networking, leadership and et cetera. I learnt many things here and it helps to
improve myself to become a better human-being. Stay safe everyone, bye!
“Who
even thought that 2020 will be a year where the planner became completely
useless?”
